American psychologist B. F. Skinner kept his baby in a box; ca. 1959

Essentially he WAS a psychologist, but also an inventor. His “Aircrib” shown in the photo was essentially just a crib. The baby was still removed and got interaction, but nap time and night time she was put inside an environmentally controlled crib.
